2015 Winter Program

The YIVO Institute and Bard College are pleased to announce the fourth year of the Winter Program on Ashkenazi Civilization. This program, the first of its kind in the U.S., presents an integrated curriculum in the culture, history, language, and literature of East European Jews. Courses are open to all.

YIVO’s 2015 Winter Program will offer a range of courses from distinguished scholars in the field, including Samuel Kassow, Magda Teter, Gennady Estraikh, Adam Kirsch, Cecile Kuznitz, Elissa Bemporad, Miriam Udel, Rakhmiel Peltz, Beverly Bailis, and Jonathan Brent. Course topics will include Yiddish Children’s Literature; Jewish-Catholic Reconciliation; Gender, War, and Modern Hebrew Literature of Eastern Europe, and Abraham Cahan and the Yiddish Daily Forverts, among others.
