Strategic Partnerships

YIVO has formed strategic partnerships with other academic institutions to develop educational programs and research projects in the field of Jewish Studies. These programs and partnerships include:

  • YIVO-Bard Institute for East European Jewish History and Culture: This new institute, the first of its kind in the U.S., presents an integrated program of study in the culture, history, language, and literature of East European Jews. Courses are designed to attract undergraduates, graduate students, faculty, and members of the general public. Co-sponsored by YIVO and Bard College.
  • Uriel Weinreich Program in Yiddish Language, Literature, and Culture: This intensive summer language course, co-sponsored by YIVO and Bard College, is regarded as the most comprehensive program available in the academic study of Yiddish.
  • Project Judaica: A joint project of YIVO, the Jewish Theological Seminary, and the Russian State University for the Humanities in Moscow, Project Judaica is a five-year program which trains students in Russia as specialists in Jewish Studies.
  • Routes to Roots Foundation: YIVO has formed a partnership with Routes to Roots Foundation to produce a series of guides to Jewish records in the Polish, Moldovan, and Ukrainian national archives. These guides are of special interest to family history researchers. (More information on these publications and how to order them can be obtained from the Routes to Roots Foundation web site.)
