A lecture by
philosopher and novelist
in conversation with Jonathan Rosen

REBECCA GOLDSTEIN, philosopher and novelist, is the critically acclaimed author of eight books, including six works of fiction. Her works have been translated into eleven languages. She is the recipient of numerous awards, for her writing and scholarship, including two National Jewish Book awards, and two Whiting Foundations awards. In 1996 she became a MacArthur fellow, receiving the prize popularly referred to as the "Genius Award." She has just been granted a Guggenheim Fellowship as well as a Radcliffe Institute Fellowship for this coming year. Her newest book, Betraying Spinoza (Schocken) will be published in May 2006.

JONATHAN ROSEN is the author of the novels Eve’s Apple and Joy Comes in the Morning, and of a work of non-fiction, The Talmud and the Internet: A Journey Between Worlds. In 1990, Rosen created the Arts & Letters section of the Forward, which he oversaw for ten years. He is currently General Editor of the “Jewish Encounters” series, published by NextbookSchocken. His essays have appeared in The New York Times Magazine, The New York Times Book Review, The New Yorker and several anthologies.  Rosen is a member of the YIVO Board of Overseers.
